Väinö is an Assistant Computer Scientist with the Leadership Computing Facility.

He focuses on computational performance of AI for science at large scale. His research interests include performance and scaling of AI applications, distributed training frameworks, model architecture, performance modeling, and improving communication and I/O performance.

Väinö has a background in machine learning and has a master's degree in ML, AI, and Data Science from Aalto University, Finland.
