ALCF's Tom Uram discusses the ALCF's new LLM inference service at the Exascale Computing Roundtable meeting.

The Exascale Computing Roundtable is bringing together senior technical experts from U.S. industry and government agencies to collaborate with leadership at the Argonne and Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facilities on advancing the use of ALCF’s Aurora, OLCF’s Frontier, and future exascale systems.

Organized by ALCF and OLCF, the roundtable is hosting its first in-person meeting this week, building on two earlier virtual events to strengthen cross-sector dialogue and collaboration in the exascale era. This week, the roundtable is focused on using exascale systems for AI, integrating exascale with experimental facilities, and developing exascale applications.

Launched in October 2024, the roundtable connects current and future exascale system users to share lessons learned and strategies for navigating the opportunities and challenges of using the nation’s first exascale supercomputers. Roundtable members include key stakeholders from large and small companies, as well as U.S. government agencies.

“We hope to build a strong community of industry and government users who are focused on leveraging the largest high-end systems to accelerate their research and development efforts,” said David Martin, manager of industrial partnerships and outreach at ALCF. “The goal is to create a forum where they can share insights, overcome challenges, and identify opportunities for collaboration. As the exascale era continues to evolve, we expect continued conversation around AI integration, software scalability, and preparing for the next wave of leadership-class systems.”
